ALEX HORWATH

Alex recently finished a nine-year professional football career that saw him play in the USL, MLS, Superettan, OBOS-ligaen, and Eliteserien. Following a four-year career playing college soccer at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics, he started his professional journey as an MLS Pool goalkeeper in 2010. He joined NY Red Bull in 2011, then spent two seasons in the USL with Wilmington Hammerheads and VSI Tampa Bay. In 2014 he decided to take his chances in Europe and signed a one-year contract with Ljungskile SK in the Swedish Superettan. After a very successful season that saw LSK narrowly miss promotion, Alex signed with SK Brann. He spent three seasons with SK Brann before returning to the United States, signing a two-year contract with Real Salt Late.

After a serious achilles injury, Alex realized that his football career was coming to an end and started to transition into coaching. In 2019 he was a player/goalkeeper coach for Real Monarchs, who he helped win the USL Championship Title. Following the 2019 USL Championship season, the Real Salt Lake front office saw that Alex had a unique skill set and offered him the role of Assistant Technical Director where he was the lead scout for Scandinavia.

Alex is also the founder of College Football Consultants, which is a college football recruiting agency that helps talented Scandinavian footballers get college scholarships to play soccer at American universities. He started the company in 2016 and has helped over 50 Scandinavian footballers receive scholarships.
